Pyramid Solitaire: learn through an example

Start Pyramid Solitaire by looking at the playing area and its controls. Remove all 28 pyramid cards. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Use the example below to understand a decision.

Pyramid, stock and waste; one stock recycle. Free solo play, no wagering.

Take a closer look while playing

Choose one rule to keep in mind for this round. Apply it consistently rather than guessing what another version might allow. Refer to the controls when needed.

What you need to achieve

Remove all 28 pyramid cards. Read that aim before choosing your first action. Keep the controls in easy reach.

The playing sequence

  1. Only uncovered cards are selectable. Pairs total 13; a king removes alone.
  2. Click an exposed card or eligible pair to remove it.
  3. Draw when useful.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

The controls to know

Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Return to the rules if the result is unexpected.

One way to understand the rules

An exposed queen pairs with an ace; a jack pairs with a 2. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Consider the next action carefully.

Watch out for this

Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Check the rule before repeating the action. Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board.
